ZINE NOT DEAD!!! a new comics reading series

ZINE NOT DEAD is a quarterly performative comix reading series hosted by Matt Davis (Perfectly Acceptable Press) and Brad Rohloff (Bred Press). Zine Not Dead encourages artists to find ways to push the limits of comics reading – to find ways to not just read the comic, but embody it. Brad and Matt have run Zine Not Dead since 2016. This is the 21st installment.

ANYA DAVIDSON

Anya is a cartoonist and musician living in Chicago. Her first YA book, Night and Dana, was released in September from Lerner Books.

MAGGIE UMBER

Maggie Umber paints, prints, and programs graphic novels and zines. She’s published three graphic novels — Sound of Snow Falling, Time Capsule, and 270° — and her work has been widely anthologized. Find her books, prints and toys at maggieumber.com.

WILL LARENWill Laren is a Cartoonist and Painter living in Chicago originally from Philadelphia. Will’s work has been published on the websites of Vice UK, Adult Swim, and Vans. He has been a member of the Philadelphia art collective Space 1026 for 9 years until his recent move.

GLAMHAG (ft. Nunn)

Glamhag is a director, production designer, multimedia & performance artist making work in Chicago. Glam spends their time collaborating with their friends making films and music videos, fabricating objects in their studio and building sets.

MAX HUFFMAN

Max Huffman is a freshly Chicago-based cartoonist and door guy from North Carolina. He is currently self-publishing a crime serial called Hypermutt.

GABE MCGEE

Gabriel McGee is a Chicago based artist that works with printmaking, video, sound, and electronics. Since receiving his bachelors in fine arts from the School of the Art Institute in 2023, he has shown work in New York, Chicago, and Barcelona.
