Mikey Mosher: Container Continuum
@ The Martin
2500 W Chicago Ave, Chicago, IL 60623
Opening Friday, October 6th, at 6PM
On view through Friday, November 10th
Container Continuum is a reflection on the relationship between objects and their containers. Coming out of a convergence of interests in religious objects and collage, Mikey Mosher’s latest body of work explores how the process of designing containers and then collecting and arranging objects to live within them can be a contemplative and revealing practice. By building these simple and materially humble enclosures, Mikey attempts to create a space for modular divination with found objects to find permanent homes for them and create a harmony of symbolic associations with their surroundings. This arranging process opens doors between compartmented versions of the self, past and present, imagined and real, intellectual and intuitive, physical and psychological.
Join us for the opening night of CONTAINER CONTINUUM at The Martin from 6-9pm on Friday October 6th. The opening coincides with West Town’s First Fridays, so stop by other galleries in the neighborhood for an art experience that expands all through West Town!
If you are a collector interested in an early viewing of the show, email The Martin’s Gallery Assistant Dennissa Young to set up a time: dennissa@themartinchicago.com
A card-only bar will be available. Want to dine at Split-Rail before the show? We recommend making a reservation. Make your plans to go to Dorothy afterwards (21+).
