A new solo exhibition by BOLT Resident Melika Bass that presents a multi-channel video installation exploring the nocturnal cinematic landscape. Car windows act as screens and the sky as projected film in this psychological portrait of urban memory.

BIOGRAPHY
Melika Bass’s film work has been screened and exhibited in cinemas and art spaces worldwide, among them the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago (solo exhibition, February 2011); Torino Film Festival, Italy; Anthology Film Archives, New York; Ann Arbor Film Festival; Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit; Athens International Film Festival; Segal Center for the Performing Arts, Montreal; Hamburg International Film Festival, Germany; and the Split Festival of New Film, Croatia.
Bass was recently commissioned by Icelandic group Sigur Rós to create an original film for their Valtari Mystery Film Experiment.
Recent installation exhibitions include the solo, site-specific video installation Nocturama at the Comfort Station, curated by Michael Green (June 2012); and Requiem for Waking Things (with Homa Shojaie) at MDW Fall Showcase (Fall 2011).
Melika Bass hails from North Carolina and Virginia and teaches in the Department of Film, Video, and New Media at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
