Join Intuit on the third Thursday of the month for Art After Work, a free series of facilitated art-making workshops inspired by outsider and self-taught art and artists from the museum’s collections and exhibitions. This month, artist, art educator and Intuit Summer Fellow Cielo Aguilera will lead a discussion and facilitate a workshop inspired by artist Emery Blagdon and his healing machines. In the virtual workshop, participants will be immersed in the mind of Emery Blagdon and create their own wire hangings and patterned paintings, or “pretties” as Blagdon called them, to produce their own collective healing machine.

Suggested materials
– Wire and wire hangers
– Pipe cleaners
– Foil
– Tape
– Beads
– Magnets
– Ribbons
– Paint
– Canvas or wood panels
– Battery-powered lights
– Pliers, if using hard wire
– Found objects of your choice to attach or hang

Art After Work is for everyone, including beginners and people who say they “are not artists.” We can all be artists! It is a guided workshop, and instruction will begin at 5 p.m. central.

Closed captions will be available at the virtual Art After Work. Please contact Paula Santos at paula@art.org with questions related to accessibility accommodations one week before the program begins.

Art After Work is free to join! To show your support to Intuit, please consider the pay-what-you-can option when you complete your reservation. Your contributions help ensure the sustainability of our public programs and support guest lecturers and teaching artists.
