The Kolmar Music Collective
@ Compound Yellow
244 Lake St, Oak Park, IL 60302
Opening Sunday, October 4th, from 3PM - 4PM
Join us for an hour of chamber music at Compound Yellow. Sunday October 4th at 3pm. The Kolmar Music Collective presents a diverse array of chamber music for strings and guitar from Europe and the Americas. We start with violin duos by St. Chevalier de Saint-George, who was born in Guadeloupe and became an accomplished fencer, violinist, and conductor in Paris. Next we present selections from Bach’s Goldberg variations arranged for string trio. We feature our cellist, Alexa Muhly, performing a 1940’s prison song from the Alan Lomax collection and our Guitarist, Thomas Clippert, playing “Manhã de Carnaval”, a Bossa nova hit by Brazilian Luiz Bonfá. “In a Sentimental Mood” by jazz great Duke Ellington brings together all four string players. We end as a guitar quintet with Luigi Boccherini’s rousing “Fandango” and the folk tune “Ashokan Farewell”.
