DEFIBRILLATOR performance art gallery is proud to present the second annual LYP SINC SHOW on April Fools Day at DEFIBRILLATOR. There is a $10 suggested donation and proceeds will benefit the RAPID PULSE INTERNATIONAL PERFORMANCE ART FESTIVAL that will occur at the gallery in June.
Hosted by legendary drag artist, Silky Jumbo, the invited performers will pretend to sing their favorite songs. Encouraged to riff on the idea of lip synchronization, the line-up of creative talent includes Anna Trier and Meredith Weber (Happy Collaborationists), Ben Foch (co-director: New Capital), Sasha Hodges (co-owner: Kokorokoko), Mikey McParlane (performance artist), April Lynn (socialite), Sofia Moreno (artist), Jillian Soto (artist), Courney Macandanz (performance artist), Rosé Hernandez (performance artist), Robin Deacon (performance faculty at SAIC), Taisha Paggett (choreographer and faculty at Columbia), Jake Myers (artist and Octagon Gallery director), Monica Panzarino (installation artist), Sharon Lanza (Mucca Pazza), and Joseph Ravens (director at Defibrillator). DJ Jean Shorts arranges the order of the performances and spins before, between, and after the show. Visuals by artist Nayeon Yang who will create “album covers” for each song.
RAPID PULSE INTERNATIONAL PERFORMANCE ART FESTIVAL will take place June 01-10, 2012 at DEFIBRILLATOR and surrounding venues. Public performances, lectures, video performances and artists talks will all take place during the 10 day event. Featured artists originate from Myanmar, Macedonia, Finland, Norway, Guatemala, Brazil, Germany, France, and other parts of the US. Proceeds from the benefit will go toward housing and feeding the visiting artists. Press Release for the festival, including line-up, is forthcoming.
