Opening Night Reception of Nou La Art Exhibit.

Nou La features the mixed-media paintings of artist Alexandra Antoine. These paintings utilize images of friends and family taken by the artist during her travels back to her parent’s homeland of Haiti. The mixing of traditional artistic practices with symbolic language in the form of stylistic backdrops is present throughout her work.

The title Nou La means ‘We are here’ in Haitian Kreyol and pays homage to the Haitian community that has and continues to thrive in the Midwest.
