BOOKS, BRUNCH & BOTÁNICA PRESENTS: “A Seat At The Table”
Please join us and have a seat as we come together to create our own table and welcome in the Fall equinox with intention, grounding, nourishment, sisterhood and creation.” The Autumn Equinox is a meaningful time of year to honor the harvest whether that be a literal harvest of the things planted in your garden or the harvest of efforts and intentions for your life path that you set earlier in the year.” Fall is when we set up and prepare our internal space and make room for the abundance of what’s to come.
“Food sovereignty is an affirmation of who we are as indigenous peoples and a way, one of the most surefooted ways, to restore our relationship with the world around us.”
– Winona LaDuke
*BRUNCH:
In honoring this harvest, Books, Brunch & Botánica will offer a communal 3 course brunch prepared with fresh ingredients harvested from local WOC/POC run farms: Catatumbo Cooperative Farm, Urban Growers Collective & Lightly Farmed, with an intention to center indigenous roots and medicine, while paying special attention to the “The Three Sisters.”
The Three Sisters are the three main agricultural crops of various First Nation groups in North America: squash, maize, and beans. According to the ancestral legend, corn, beans and squash are inseparable sisters that were given to the people by the “Great Spirit,” and have nourished each other as well as the people of these lands for generations.
*MENU: 3 course Farm to Table brunch featuring crops harvested by local WOC & POC owned farms and food growing cooperatives. Vegan options are available. Meals will be prepared by Sheyssa Bernid Rosado.
COST/EXCHANGE: $45
“Without community, there is no liberation.”
― Audre Lorde
