Join us for a special outdoor screening of TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD on the Arts Bank Lawn. This screening is part of the American Pride, American Prejudice classic film series. exploring in four parts how classic cinema interweaves incisive social commentary and studies blackness, race and racial identity through themes of pride and prejudice, hosted by Ashley Cooper.
Scout Finch, 6,and her older brother, Jem, live in sleepy Maycomb, Ala., spending much of their time with their friend Dill and spying on their reclusive and mysterious neighbor, Boo Radley. When Atticus, their widowed father and a respected lawyer, defends a black man named Tom Robinson against fabricated rape charges, the trial and tangent events expose the children to evils of racism and stereotyping.
This screening is free and open to the public. Limited seating is available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Guests are invited to bring chairs or blankets, and can bring food. The film will begin at dusk.
