Fibers Night and the Wandering Uterus Project Workshop
@ PO Box Collective
6900 N Glenwood Ave, Chicago, IL 60626
Opening Monday, July 1st, from 6PM - 8PM
Make a uterus! Or work on another fibers project and enjoy the co-crafting community. We will also be continuing to make Clemency Quilt squares.
The Wandering Uterus project is influenced by ancient Greek physician Hippocrates’ myth of the “wandering womb,” which compared a woman’s uterus to a living creature that wandered throughout her body causing pathological emotional excess. We are remove the organ from explanations written by white-supremacist, cis-male dominated societies. We are making and sharing our own stories. Make a uterus of your very own, for your own reasons. Take it home, or put it on the wall to join the collection in future exhibitions; it’s your choice.
