ASUNDER / 满地残阳 | OPENING RECEPTION
Join us Thursday, February 27th, at Glass Curtain Gallery from 5p.m.-7p.m. to celebrate the opening of Asunder / 满地残阳 by artist Hope Wang [@hopeless_hope].
February 27–April 25, 2025
Opening Reception: Thursday, February 27, 5-7p.m.
Hope Wang’s practice explores memory, loss, and longing in the ever-shifting architectural landscape. She is interested in what always feels out of reach: the last seconds of the sun setting against the factory wall, the smell of asphalt baking in the summer heat, or the wavering space between an open storefront and a shuttered one.
In Asunder / 满地残阳, Wang takes a long look back at work spanning from as early as 2017 to the present. This exhibition bears witness to a transitional state in Wang’s practice and broader life, plucking at the knot tangled in her chest. Change and heartache feel the same; like the promise of every sunset, the day breaks with everything in it.
Leaning into the repetitive nature of printmaking, the slippage of meaning when reading poetry, and the slow craft of weaving, Wang attempts to render the ghostly silhouette of a thing you can’t quite remember but also haven’t fully forgotten.
