Lincoln Park – Art City Presents new work by Charlie Goss and Emma Stine.
Two Chicago-based painters come together in a complimentary analysis of the versatility of the paint medium by exploring color, sensuality, memory and interpersonal relationships.

After returning from 10 years in South America, Chicago native, Charlie Goss, immersed himself in studying figure painting techniques mentored by his uncle Joe Steiner and a handful of other professional artists. This knowledge, combined with the rich cultural life spent in Colombia and Paraguay, has led to a masterful expression of color, grit, and sensuality.

Emma Stine received a dual degree in Fine Arts and Italian Studies from the University of New Hampshire. During that time, she studied oil painting at the Lorenzo de’Medici Institute in Florence and attended a course on the legacy of totalitarianism in Italy at the University of Rome’s Sapienza Institute, both of which continue to influence her practice. Since coming to Chicago, her work has focused on interpersonal relationships, ideas of memory and malleability, and the question of what it means to faithfully represent a family. Stine is currently a second-year MFA candidate in the Painting & Drawing Department at SAIC.

Both artists will have an opening reception at Art City located at 1400 N. Halsted Street in Chicago, Friday, January 24, 2025, 5-9pm. Free and open to the public.
