VIDEO DATA BANK PRESENTS: ROUNDABOUT FEATURING LIGHT CONE
@ Gene Siskel Film Center
164 N State St, Chicago, IL 60601
Opening Thursday, December 12th, from 6PM - 8:30PM
Video Data Bank presents Roundabout, a screening series in which the Chicago video art distributor invites a fellow moving image archive and distributor to collaborate on a conversational program of short experimental works. This program’s collaborator is Light Cone, a nonprofit organization whose aim is the promotion and preservation of experimental cinema in France and around the world since its founding in 1982. Light Cone’s primary mission is the distribution of the works in its catalog, which counts nearly 7,000 titles, in their original format whenever possible, to cultural organizations such as nonprofits, cinemas, museums, universities, galleries, and festivals. This program’s featured artists include Janice Tanaka, Paolo Gioli, Semiconductor, Sarah Pucill, Stephanie Barber, and Christian Hossner. The screening will be followed by a conversation between Mariya Nikiforova (Light Cone), Film Collection and Documentation Center Manager, and Emily Faith Martin (VDB), Distribution Manager. Tickets are free for SAIC students with ID.
