Multimedia artist, seamstress, and musician Melina Ausikaitis presents her solo exhibition The Witness Figure at Schoenherr Gallery. Centered around childhood drawings of paper dolls created by the artist and her sisters, the disarming yet unsettling figures are adorned with ceramic faces and hands. Familiar clothing motifs are reimagined using discarded and donated artwork, fabric, and nineties era multimedia elements.
The accompanying video Mummy, featuring music by Ausikaitis and musician Nate Kinsella, ties together themes of costume, play, and memory.
