Who We are
A podcast centered on picking out the sincere meaning within media and arts through the lens of a collectivist queer lens. Covering various media formats including books, movies, shows, plays, and albums.
Some examples include:
The esoteric art punk healing album SAVED! by Reverend Kristin Michael Hayter.
The often overlooked queerness within Richard Pryor.
The semi mythographic exploration of addiction in Cole Escola’s stunning Broadway debut Oh, Mary!
The show is a collaboration between Marcy and AP- collectively known as the Doves. Both equally educated in media and art, which amounts to some clashes but a deep love for it. Marcy is a television fanatic with a love for queer media, the dying art form of the album, and the trials of reality TV. She loves being a trans lesbian with a cat. AP prefers the long form media of movies, the underappreciated art of dance, and anything odd. He is a proud Latino who is Chicago born and raised. You can find both dancing and providing merriment across Chicago.
There are 2 episodes a month around 1 hour and 20 minutes released the second and fourth Thursday of the month. The subject matter changes with each episode but the thematic approach stays. As a podcast we believe meaning is created, found, and negotiated across an audience. It’s that meaning that colors the reception of art we consume.
Listen to some of some episodes
Going Gayotic – an episode of the sapphic band MUNA
Vampire Daddies – an episode on the revival series of Interview with the Vampire
