Rick Telander: Sweet Dreams: Poems and Paintings for the Child Abed
@ August House Studio
2113 W Roscoe St, Chicago, IL 60618
Opening Friday, September 6th, from 6PM - 9PM
On view through Saturday, September 28th
Marya Veeck is proud to announce an exhibit showing of the poems and art from Rick Telander’s new book, Sweet Dreams: Poems and Paintings for the Child Abed.
The event will be held at Veeck’s August House Studio, 2113 W. Roscoe Street, Chicago, 60618, on Friday, September 6th from 6 PM to 9 PM with hors d’oeuvres, wine, and beer.
The book contains 42 original poems by Telander with full-page illustrations of each poem by 42 esteemed artists from the US, Canada, England, and Korea. The book started when Telander himself was sick in bed many years ago which took three decades to complete and has been called, “a bedtime book for families to treasure.’’
The book and dozens of the original paintings and/or limited prints will be displayed and on sale, and over a dozen contributing artists will be attending the gala.
Marya Veeck, daughter of legendary baseball impresario Bill Veeck and herself a contributing artist, will be hosting with Telander. The combo is fitting since Telander is a longtime sports columnist for the Chicago Sun-Times and Veeck grew up in a family of sports nuts.
The paintings and books will be on display until September 28th, Wednesday to Saturday, from 1 PM to 5 PM at August House Studio
Tip: do not park in the lot east of the studio. Owner is relentless and will boot your car.
