Denise Siegel: Process Bared
@ VibrantCast Gallery
4313 N Lincoln Ave, Chicago, IL 60618
Opening Friday, July 12th, from 6PM - 10PM
On view through Saturday, July 13th
Denise Siegel’s intention is to celebrate each medium by illuminating the process!
In her paintings, layers of paint and brushstrokes are revealed rather than smoothed or covered. Even if a canvas is recycled as a new painting, texture, color, shapes or lines from the previous painting may be kept.
Example: look for Denise’s fingerprints in the direct draw nudes; this is where she held the paper while tracing her reversed drawing onto rolled ink.
“My goal is to connect the viewer directly to the process of creating art,” Denise explains.
Subject matter is frequently abstracted, not only to showcase the process but also to illuminate the feeling and essence of the subject matter that Denise intends to convey.
“Your experience with my artwork should be evocative!”, says Denise!
A lifelong artist, Denise Siegel has studied and worked in the mediums of drawing, figurative sculpture, many printmaking techniques, and oil painting.
She has taught figurative sculpture to adults, worked as an assistant in a prominent sculpture studio, and created her own successful bronze tile business, Denise Siegel Bronze.
Currently an avid oil painter, Denise sells through Artemisia gallery, solo and other gallery shows, and by commission.
