RADAR is proud to present “Scorchers”, the final installment of Roommate as it exists currently in the Humboldt Park location. The exhibition features new work by Liza Jo Eilers and Andrew Ordonez, who use the mediums of painting and sculpture to delve into the intricacies of pop culture as influenced by movies, television, and screens, prompting us to question the deeper implications of our media-saturated world.

Liza Jo Eilers (b. 1993 St. Paul, MN) lives and works in Chicago, IL. Eilers obtained a MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2020 and a BA in Industrial Design from the University of Notre Dame in 2015. Eilers recent solo and two person exhibitions include, The Great American Songbook, Grove, London, UK; Don’t blow on the soup at Material Room, Richmond, VA; GLORY’S with Alessandra Norman at Yew Nork, Chicago, IL; The Care and Keeping of You at SULK CHICAGO, Chicago, IL; and SLUDGE at Rainbo Club presented by M. LeBlanc, Chicago, IL. Her work has been shown in group exhibitions at Guerrero Gallery, Los Angeles, CA; Espace Maurice, Montreal, Canada; de boer, Los Angeles, CA; Tchotchke Gallery, Brooklyn, NY; Julius Caesar, Chicago, IL; The Latent Space, Chicago, IL; Night Club Gallery, Minneapolis, MN; Weatherproof, Chicago, IL; Racecar Factory, Indianapolis, IN; SULK CHICAGO, Chicago, IL.

Andrew Ordonez (b.1991 Fort Worth, Texas) is a visual artist living and working in New Haven, Connecticut. Drawing relationships between mixed media and mediumship, he is interested in constructing ‘spectral encasements’ that explore the tension between surface and screen. He works in installation, aggregate casting, and video projection. Ordonez received his MFA from the Yale School of Art in 2024 and his BFA from the Kansas City Art Institute in 2013. He is the recipient of the Yale School of Art 2024 Dean’s Prize. He has held studio residencies at the Charlotte Street Foundation in Kansas City, MO, and the Casa Lu artist residency in Mexico City. A visual artist and independent curator, his work has been exhibited across the United States and North America. Recent exhibitions have been featured at SHRINE NYC, Below Grand NYC, the Charlotte Street Foundation, H&R Block Artspace, Monaco STL, and the Mexic-Arte Museum.

RADAR is a curatorial platform designed to support artists and their work through emerging initiatives, with a specific focus on artists who have a connection to the Midwest region. Founded in 2018 by Madeline Gallucci, RADAR strives to illuminate these practices through pop-up exhibitions, digital archives and collaborative projects. Under RADAR, Roommate is a temporary exhibition series featuring two artists in a two-bedroom apartment in Chicago’s Humboldt Park neighborhood.
