Cruising – Fetish Film Screening
@ Leather Archives & Museum
6418 N Greenview Ave, Chicago, IL 60626
Opening Saturday, May 25th, from 7PM - 9PM
We are celebrating International Mr Leather weekend with some fetish fuilled fun at LA&M. Get your kink on with a screening of this classic and controversial leather thriller form 1980. Starring Al Pacino in a hot and iconic role as Offiocer Steve Burns investigating a potential serial killer in the gay leather bars of NYC.
At the time of its release, Cruising was criticized and reviled by the gay community, feeling like it portrayed the gay community as BDSM fetishists (a la no kink at pride) Much of NYC’s leather community gave their enthusiastic support, and many were filmed as extras in the bar scenes.
Today, attitudes have shifted some and the film has found its place among the early great queer films.
Come in leather, gear, fetish attire, or just plain old vanilla clothes….whatever you like! We will hang around for a short discussion after the film, and for those who want to keep the party going we can head to Jackhammer just 2 blocks away for PRIMAL. Note that gear is required for entry into Jackhammer for PRIMAL and a seperate ticket is needed which can be found here.
