Tai Taeoalii: INTRINSIC
@ Jackson Junge Gallery
1389 N Milwaukee Ave. Chicago, IL 60622
Opening Saturday, April 20th, from 12PM - 10PM
On view through Sunday, May 19th
Jackson Junge Gallery and artist Tai Taeoalii invite attendees to engage with his new installation, INTRINSIC, during an immersive experience the afternoon and evening of Saturday, April 20th. The events are free and open to the public.
INTRINSIC features a symbolic central painting that connects 25 ballpoint pen drawings of “ordinary, but nuanced objects, intrinsic to the growth of his soul and with a literal twist”. Hip-hop, filmmaking, tattoo, graffiti, even slam poetry all seeped powerful ingredients into Taeoalii’s formulation as an artist. Taeoalii wanted to celebrate INTRINSIC with a series of immersive performances that honor these influences.
2-5pm: Live audience episode recordings of The DOD45 Show podcast featuring “Rich Jones”, Defcee” and “Nightwalker”
6-10pm: Music by DJ Mr. Dibbs
7:30pm: Slam Poetry by Marc Smith and the Chicago Poetry Ensemble
Snacks and refreshments provided. Sponsored by Spark’d and Shake Shack.
