System Crasher
@ Goethe-Institut Chicago
150 N Michigan Ave, 3rd Floor Michigan Room, Chicago, IL 60601
Opening Tuesday, April 9th, from 6PM - 8:30PM
When it first screened in the 2019 Berlinale, Systemsprenger (System Crasher) caused a sensation among educational experts in Germany for its gripping depiction of a desperate child who is harming herself and others. The more desperate she feels inside, the more brutally violent she acts on the outside. Even 5 years later, the award-winning film has lost none of its burning topicality. Authentic and yet warm-hearted towards all those involved, it paints a realistic portrait of a young person who pushes the German youth welfare system to its limits.
The film screening will open with a thematic introduction by Julia Zimmermann, a social worker with many years of experience in residential group homes, and will be followed by a discussion over snacks and drinks.
