Come One, Come All
@ ANTHONY GALLERY
1360 W Lake St, Chicago, IL 60607
On view through Saturday, May 11th
Come One, Come All transforms the gallery space into a universal invitation, extending a unique opportunity for viewers to consider a pointed history of the modern age and the implications of its condition. Showcasing the work of 30 established contemporary artists, this exhibition celebrates a range of creative expression while touching on some of the most poignant topics in recent history.
Delving into material explorations of culture, technology, and politics, participating artists’ careers are marked by their distinct contribution to these conversations in the vast landscape of contemporary art. This myriad of perspectives is further emphasized by the breadth of the exhibition’s survey: one that illuminates shared influences, processes, and thematic intentions across generations.
Provocation is the unifying quality among diverse objects and makers. Be it through concept, media, or process, exhibited artists are set apart from the art historical canon for their dissection of prevailing narratives. In this way, the artworks in Come One, Come All complicate familiar concepts from a range of personal and artistic viewpoints. Appreciating these objects, in all their glory and contradiction, fosters an environment enriched by complexity instead of fractured by it.
The exhibition is on view at Anthony Gallery at 1360 W. Lake Street from April 11th to May 11th, 2024.
