Gallery Conversation: Letter from Birmingham Jail

Join us in the galleries to honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. by revisiting his monumental “Letter from Birmingham Jail.” Using Dr. King’s words as a guide to interpret artworks in the collection, we will explore the many meanings of justice, resistance, and faith.
If you’d like, you can prepare for the conversation by reading (or re-reading) King’s “Letter from Birmingham Jail.”
Please note that this is an in-person event that takes place at the museum.
In accordance with state and City of Chicago guidelines, visitors to the museum are no longer required to wear masks or provide proof of vaccination. Anyone who would like to continue to wear a mask is welcome to do so. Learn more about our visiting policies and what to expect.
