Mary King has made art from the time she could hold a pencil and continues every day. King’s solo exhibitions in Chicago include “Curious Home/Soap Is A Noun” at Epiphany Center For The Arts (2022), “People You Know” at 65 Grand (2021), “War Stories” at the Hyde Park Art Center (2016), “Beautiful Industry” (2013) “Traveling On” (1991). King also had 4 solo exhibitions at Denise Bibro Fine Art in New York, NY (2005, 2003, 2000, 1997) King’s work has been exhibited in group shows at: The Detroit Institute of Arts, The Butler Art Institute, Albright-Knox Art Gallery, The Kalamazoo Institute of Arts, Beverly Arts Center, and The Art Center Highland Park. In 2007, her work was featured in “Distinguished Alumni” in the inaugural exhibition at the Richmond Center at Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
King has received grants from the Arts Council of Greater Kalamazoo and from Education For The Arts of Kalamazoo County. She was awarded two residencies at the Kimmel Harding Nelson Center for the Arts in Nebraska City, Nebraska, as well as a residency at The Vermont Studio School in Johnson, Vermont, and at Mother’s Milk in Newton, Kansas.
King’s work is included in the collections of Western Michigan University, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, The Battle Creek Art Center, The Michigan Education Association, and The Anderson Fine Arts Center of Anderson, Indiana. King’s work has been reviewed by The Kalamazoo Gazette,The Ann Arbor News, Detroit News, The Detroit Free Press, The New Art Examiner, The Chicago Reader, The Chicago Tribune. and The New York Times. King earned a BFA from The University of Chicago and an MA from Western Michigan University. She studied advanced painting at The School of The Art Institute of Chicago. King lives and works in Kenwood in Chicago.
Andy Moore
Andrew Moore is a painter and book artist working out of Evanston IL. He is an alumni of the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee where he studied under Dennis Sargent, Bill Nichols, and Pam Shermer. He went on to receive a graduate degree from SAIC, primarily mentored by Ray Yoshida, Gaylan Gerber, and John Rico. After graduation Moore and three friends started the now defunct alternative space, Deluxe Projects. Alongside and after that curatorial experience, he maintained a personal studio practice, making books, paintings, and sculptures and has regularly exhibited his work throughout Chicago.
Moore had a solo show at boundary in 2018.
