Live To Tell: Barbara DeGenevieve, her Library at OHKLAHOMO
@ Ohklahomo
2518 W Iowa St, Chicago, IL 60622
Opening Sunday, February 4th, at 6PM
Hi, all,
My life is an accident. I am grateful to Jan Tichy, who suggested that I house here at my DIY art space OHKLAHOMO, Barbara DeGenevieve’s Library in my basement (Barbara, prolific artist, faculty, chair in Photography, and so many gifts she gave to saic. )
Maud Lavin and I have organised an event honoring and celebrating the art and spirit of Barbara DeGenevieve, gone now for 10 years–and the installation of her library at my DIY Homo! OHKLAHOMO, 2518 W. Iowa St., Sunday, Feb. 4, 6:00. There’s a great line up of writers reading and performers performing, including Kat Bawden, Aimée Baubien, Calvin Forbes, Mallory Qiu, and Eugene Tang. Please come! Maud and I will also perform and read!
WE like to think of it as an evening Barbara would have enjoyed attending. Responses to her work, spinning around art, sex, joy, and memory!
Also at the event, we will continue the project with Charlie Peterson and Neelyx Labs re at-home STI Testing Kits, which WE KNOW Barbara would’ve loved.
Looking forward to seeing you then there, xx, Maud–and Mark
