The @beautifulsoulscoffinshow is back! PACH is excited to be hosting this special show that opens on FRIDAY, OCTOBER 13th / 6-9pm
SHOW RUNS: Oct. 13th – Nov. 5th
“This has been a project and labor of love that has been supported by artists and community members alike with little to no funding. This project started off with just 13 coffins and has grown over the years.
It has been exhibited at The Native Soul Tattoo Shop, Mistress of the Arts Salon, Cultura in Pilsen, The Jumping Bean Cafe, 4Arts Inc; Zhou B Art Center, The Surreal Rabbit, Pilsen Outpost, Native Rituals, and now featured at Pilsen Arts and Community House formerly known as Pilsen Outpost.
This show is a multicultural fusion of the Mexican holiday, Dia de Los Muertos/Day of the Dead and the American holiday of Halloween. You are invited to customize a 12x 18 mini coffin. Handcrafted by a Tim Dashnaw a master woodworker.
In the past 3 years we have gone through so much loss due to the pandemic, climate change, genocide, femicide, war, diseases, and due to so much loss and turmoil we have collectively gone through a metamorphosis not just as artists and creatives, but as human beings. Surviving and caring for each other and looking for meaning in everything we are experiencing. Each year artists and community members are invited to paint, decorate, and or create a mini altar using the 12×18 wooden coffins to inspire and celebrate as well as honor those who have passed on.” – ZENA
