1360 W Lake St, Chicago, IL 60607
Opening Thursday, September 14th, from 5PM - 8PM
On view through Saturday, October 14th
Anthony Gallery is excited to announce its latest exhibition featuring the work of Wu Yué and Shaun Crawford. The opening is slated for September 14th at 5 PM at 1360 W. Lake Street, Chicago, IL 60607. This collection of works will be on display until October 14, 2023.
The exhibition celebrates the art of Wu Yué and Shaun Crawford, two artists who are pushing the boundaries of their art respectively. The two assemble in a shared exhibition, presenting their individual yet harmonious perspectives.
I’m Not Back I’m Better is Yué’s second show at Anthony Gallery. Wu Yué is a multidisciplinary artist working in illustration, painting, animation, directing, and drawing, which lies at the base of his creative process. His artistic identity is rooted in creating dynamic compositions that merge pop culture subjects with surrealist forms. Yué works for clients such as Cartier, Nike, Apple Music, Beats by Dre, and Hennessy. The artist lives and works in Paris.
This That and the Third welcomes Crawford back for his third show at Anthony Gallery. Crawford is an artist and ink-maker from New York. His pieces capitalize on pop culture’s ubiquitous familiarity to craft candid social statements that bridge the realms of caricature and sociopolitical critique. Crawford has collaborated with Arc’teryx, BAPE, and Engineered Garments on various creative projects.
“Having these works showcased side by side allows viewers to witness the power of artistic individuality, while discovering the shared threads that connect us,” Easy Otabor states. “Yué and Crawford both inspire innovation, and this show is a remarkable collaboration between two visionary artists.”
This exhibition by Yué and Crawford not only celebrates the artists’ respective accomplishments, it also invites viewers to explore the intersections and contrasts of their artistic journeys. By presenting their creations together, the show becomes a reflection of the multifaceted nature of contemporary art and its ability to spark meaningful conversations.
The exhibition will be open to the public from September 14th through October 14th, 2023, and admission is free. Visitors are encouraged to come and explore the works on display.
