“Where we go together” or The Flashlight Play by Theatre Nobody
@ Intuit: The Center for Intuitive and Outsider Art
756 N Milwaukee Ave, Chicago, IL 60642
Opening Wednesday, September 6th, from 8PM - 9:30PM
On view through Saturday, September 9th
“Where we go together” or The Flashlight Play is an immersive and interactive show about three poor theater artists who break into a dark space in order to perform their own show. Completely immersed from arrival, audiences rendezvous at a secret location and “break into” a dark performance space to witness the show. The artists’ stories consist of three shadow puppet shows—allegories that dissect the systemic issues that keep poor, different and inexperienced artists excluded from stages and pages. The interactive show’s ending differs every night, allowing the audience to write their own story live, free from capital, influence and gatekeeping.
The 90-minute show is a fast-paced, adult-oriented and electricity-free experiment into what art and storytelling can look like when audiences are given a true theatrical sandbox in which to play. Audiences are encouraged to wear black, keep a low profile and arrive promptly at the secret location (sent to registrants day of the performance by Theatre Nobody) within a tight ten-minute window. Face coverings are required following Theatre Nobody’s practices.

Following a successful eight-city tour across the Midwest and Alaska, Theatre Nobody brings its outspoken and outsider shadow show to Intuit. The performance will take place at the museum, though registrants will meet at the secret location identified by Theatre Nobody in an email sent by them at 8 a.m. the morning of the show. Please note: Registrants are not meeting at the museum. Please read the day-of email sent by Theatre Nobody, as it will include information about the secret location and the show.
