Tala, meaning “bright star” in Tagalog, will be West Town’s newest independent art space and luminous platform planned to open in the Fall/Winter 2023. Tala will be the next iteration of my space @jude__chicago and an even larger expansion of the Chicago-centered, public programs focused, and contemporary arts forward programming I have fostered in my original Pilsen location.
In conjunction with the inaugural Chicago Exhibition Weekend 2023 hosted by @gertie.chicago and @expochicago, I am opening the doors to the gallery’s construction zone for one evening only on September 30th from 7PM-9PM for a sneak-preview event.
Join us for a special one-night show featuring Juan Arango Palacios (@juuuanitx) Nicholas Zepeda (@nicholaszepeda) and Araceli Zungia (@thisisnotaraceli) with a selection of works that celebrate moments-of-growth and works-in-progress. At this pivotal moment of transition, guided by a bright future, step into Tala to learn more about our upcoming programming, and what it takes to build a community-driven platform for Chicago’s emerging, QTBIPOC contemporary art scene.
