A SPECIAL EVENT ON JUNE 3RD ” A CONVERSATION ABOUT REPARATIONS” WITH GUEST SPEAKERS – ERNEST CRIMM, RICHARD WALLACE, AND ALONZO WAHEED
THE EVENT IS FREE – $25 DONATIONS TO E.A.T’S Chicago Future Fund ARE ENCOURAGED
All proceeds from donations go towards E.A.T’s Chicago Future fund which gives $500/month to 100 formerly incarcerated individuals for one year.
This program supports EAT’s mission to build social and economic equity for system-impacted folks living in Chicago. The Chicago Future Fund is an intervention to help returning residents overcome systemic inequalities through financial assistance and education.
Unconditional cash meets people’s most urgent needs, which isn’t always limited to food, housing, and health security. Removing all restrictions mitigates unprecedented costs and provides a safety net amid life’s chaotic events. A guaranteed income of $500/month isn’t going to make anyone rich, but it will provide a lifeline to someone on the verge of drowning.
The Chicago Future fund aligns with the theme of “The Body of Evidence art exhibit (May 24th- June 24th)”
The Body of Evidence Art Exhibit showcasing the power resilience and brilliance of Black people. Specifically, how black people have fought to define themselves within the socioeconomic infrastructure of America. The exhibit exploring ways the Black community can envision and shape the future. By opening the door for innovative and imaginative ways of redefining what we need as a community in terms of equity and transformation.
