Join us on April 20th, 5:30-7 PM for “Forward Looking: Black Visual Artists in Conversation,” a panel centering the local Black arts ecosystem and how those within it continue to give forward. Additional details about the panel and registration can be found below:

Black visual artists in Chicago contribute to the way we understand the world we are in and the world around us. Black contemporary artists working today continue within a long lineage of Black visual artists who have engaged with and built relationships in their communities. Some of these engagements and giving forward include mentorship, developing community or neighborhood projects, and creating art that reflects our culture.

Join us for a discussion with guest speakers Shonna Pryor, Brenda Torres Figueroa, Juarez Hawkins, moderated by Dr. Sharbreon Plummer.

Les artistas visuales negres en Chicago contribuyen a la forma en la que entendemos el mundo en el que vivimos y el mundo a nuestro alrededor. Artistes contemporáneos negres actives hoy son parte de un largo linaje de artistes visuales negres que han trabajado con su comunidad y han construido relaciones dentro de ella. Algo de lo que han contribuido incluye tutorías, desarrollo del sentido de comunidad, proyectos vecinales y arte que refleja nuestra cultura.
