Spring Equinox, Liberalia, Deipnon, & The Ascent of the Goddess
@ Fellowship of Isis in Chicago | Life Force Arts Ensemble Foundation
1609 W Belmont Ave, Chicago, IL 60657
Opening Saturday, March 18th, from 12:30PM - 4PM
We celebrate the advent of Spring, the spirit of liberty and freedom, and the return of the Goddess from the underworld as winter fades away. Ceridwen’s cauldron is the spiritual womb of rebirth, the essence of new life as plants push their way up through the soil in the early spring.
We meet at Life Force Arts Center, 1609 W. Belmont Ave., Chicago, IL 60657, on Sat. March 18. Doors open at 12:30 PM, the festival begins at 1 PM, and the festival wraps up at 4 PM.
* The liturgy for the equinox is the first one in the FOI booklet Sophia: Cosmic Consciousness of the Goddess, by Lady Olivia Robertson. “I. Mystical Awakening of Pisces and Ceridwen. Oracle of the Goddess Ceridwen”. You can read and print a copy at this link: Fellowship of Isis Liturgy – Fellowship of Isis Central Website – Sophia – Rite 1. Pisces and Cerridwen
* Liberalia is an ancient Italian, pre-Roman festival honoring seeds, fertility, liberty, and wine, as well as the coming-of-age for young adolescent men. The deities Liber Pater & Libera can be likened to Dionysos and Ariadne. We will say a prayer and toast the ongoing struggles for freedom in this country and liberty around the world. * The Deipnon is the Dark Moon offering to Hekate, goddess of triple intersections, roads, guide for departed spirits, companion to Persephone, and so much more. * The Ascent of the Goddess is a ziggurat candle chakra rite that re-enacts the return of light and life to the world. Persephone, Ishtar, and Inanna are ancient aspects of the Divine Feminine risen and renewed in the spring.
A Pot Luck Love Table follows the rite – please bring something to share if you can. The suggested $10 Donation per person is appreciated to help pay the rent for the festival. Nobody is turned away for lack of funds.
We are hosted at Life Force Arts Center, 1609 W. Belmont Ave., Chicago, IL 60657. Doors open at 12:30 PM, the festival begins at 1 PM, and it wraps up at 4 PM. There’s free parking in the bank lot around the corner, just south of Belmont on Ashland Ave. (approx. 3160 N. Ashland).
