We are Each Other’s Harvest is the theme for Chicago State University‘s 24th Gwendolyn Brooks Black Writers’ Conference. The theme is a line taken from Gwendolyn Brooks’ poem, ‘Paul Robeson.’
In 1991, retired CSU Distinguished Professor Haki R. Madhubuti founded the Gwendolyn Brooks Black Writers Conference to honor Gwendolyn Brooks, the first Black person to ever win the Pulitzer Prize and the Poet Laureate of Illinois for over 30 years. This year, we are pleased to continue this bi-annual pilgrimage for writers and Black culture enthusiasts in a virtual format.
Join the many hundreds of writers of all genres who, over the years, persevere and thrive despite the daily inequities that try to arrest our persistent creativity. Novice writers, professionals and literary devotees have contributed their perspectives and come away with fresh ideas and inspiration.
The 24th Gwendolyn Brooks Black Writers’ Conference 2022 is a virtual event happening online on Friday, Oct. 28th from 10:30 am – 4:30 pm and Friday, October 29th from 12:00 noon – 5:30 pm.
