Cityscape Chicago

1012 N Dearborn St, Chicago, IL 60610
Opening Friday, September 9th, from 6PM - 9PM
On view through Monday, September 26th
Cityscape is not as mainstream in the contemporary American artworld as it used to be. It was definitely an anomaly when the Museum of Contemporary Art acquired Kerry Marshall’s majestic view of a street in Bronzeville in 2003. But if you visit Chicago exhibition spaces on a weekly basis, as I have done over the past 15 years, you would discover how often local artists paint their city – and that includes the weekday as well as weekend practitioners. Some of my favorites are members of the Palette & Chisel Academy – but for this show I have gone outside the membership to draw in the broadest range of expression………… Chris Miller
As an addition to Cityscape Chicago, the Palette & Chisel has assembled a group of paintings to complement Chris Miller’s vision. Our cityscape “addenda” will highlight a sampling of historical works and selected plein air and member examples. Added to Chris’s efforts are a wide range of creatively diverse and interesting works that will be on exhibit for all to enjoy. For those interested in expanding their collection, many works will be available for sale.
