Sara King has nothing, save for her secrets and the baby in her belly, as she boards the bus to Memphis, hoping to outrun her past in Chicago. She is welcomed with open arms by Mama Sugar, a kindly matriarch and owner of the popular boardinghouse The Scarlet Poplar.

 

Catherine Adel West is a writer/editor living on the South Side of Chicago. Her experience as a black woman shapes every aspect of her writing and she is sure to be a voice for many women. Her work has been published in Gay MagazineBlack Fox Literary Magazine, Five2One, Better than Starbucks, Doors Ajar, 805 Lit + Art, The Helix Magazine, Lunch Ticket, and most recently Kaaterskill Basin Literary Journal. THE TWO LIVES OF SARA is her second novel.

 

Enobong Tommelleo began her Bookstagram account in an endeavour to finally have an answer to every book lover’s most dreaded question: what’s your favourite book? After secretly changing her personal Instagram account to a Bookstagram account four years ago, she has met some incredible people, read many talented authors, and always books on hand to give out as last minute gifts. After working as 3.a professional dancer for seven years, Enobong had the pleasure of working for Booklist magazine and And Other Stories publishers. She now spends her days chasing after a toddler, creating stationary for her Etsy Store, and listening to audiobooks due to caring for the aforementioned toddler. And she still can’t tell you what her favourite book is.

 

Tashay Green is an avid reader who runs the Chicago based book-sharing community Books On the L. She’s also a Little Free Library steward in Englewood, and bookstagrammer. Tashay is deeply committed to expanding access to literature in underserved communities and supporting Black women and girls on the South Side. When she isn’t reading, she likes to go on ice cream dates with her wife and dog.
