Gallery Talk: Surrounding Kahlo, Works from the Permanent Collection
@ National Museum of Mexican Art
1852 W 19th St, Chicago, IL 60608
Opening Wednesday, August 31st, at 6PM
Join us on Wednesday, August 31st at 6:00 pm for a free gallery talk with Rebecca D. Meyers, the curator of Surrounding Kahlo: Works from the Permanent Collection. Rebecca will discuss the exhibition, which is drawn entirely from the Permanent Collection. Surrounding Kahlo explores works inspired by Frida Kahlo; the work of her students, known as “Los Fridos” who learned from and surrounded her while she recovered at home in La Casa Azul; as well as familiar items that Kahlo chose to surround herself with such as arte popular, Mesoamerican artifacts and traditional clothing from her beloved Mexico. Rebecca will share details and insight you won’t find on the wall descriptions. Don’t miss this opportunity to hear from NMMA’s Permanent Collection Curator!
Plus, all of our galleries will be open late to explore after hours.
