Chris Cassidy

@ BlackRock Real Estate Services

624 Franklin St., Michigan City, IN

Opening Friday, June 3rd, from 5 PM - 8 PM

On view through Thursday, June 30th

Chris Cassidy is showing large color photographs taken at Silo City and Waterworks in Buffalo New York, at BlackRock Real Estate Services, 624 Franklin June 3, 5-8 opening and by appointment. Silo City, once a vibrant grain processing plant, is now obsolete and in ruins. Seeing the inventive way fittings were put together to fill their specific needs made Chris ask, “how did they do this and why did they do that? The inventiveness and problem solving was incredible.” Chris says an important part of his development as an artist was working construction. “Learning how things are put together for their particular functions was fascinating, and developing the skills myself has been useful my entire life.” While working construction at Fermilab in 1976-77, the largest, most powerful atom smasher in the world at the time, he witnessed first hand one of the the highest forms of human endeavor: cooperation, exploration, inquiry and discovery in the quest to understand the nature of existence. These photographs showcase human ingenuity in action.

Chris Cassidy has photographed for major retail brands, restaurants and packaging for food products. That work and additional personal work may be seen at his website www.cassidyphoto.com.
