Rirkrit Tiravanija: (who’s afraid of red, yellow, and green)
@ Wrightwood 659
659 W Wrightwood Ave, Chicago, IL 60614
On view through Saturday, July 16th
Wrightwood 659 hosts Thai artist Rirkrit Tiravanija’s critically acclaimed 2010 artwork from the collection of the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, Washington, DC. The immersive installation features the artist’s signature culinary work, transforming Wrightwood 659’s second-floor gallery into a communal dining space where visitors are periodically offered Thai curries and encouraged to share a meal together. The installation also includes a large-scale mural referencing protests against Thai government policies, to be drawn on the walls by local artists over the course of the exhibition.
Rirkrit Tiravanija: (who’s afraid of red, yellow, and green) is organized by the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, Smithsonian Institution, Washington, DC.
Support for this exhibition is provided by Alphawood Foundation Chicago.
