Janette Hill: Abstract Watercolor Paintings
@ Blue Moon Gallery
18620 Belvidere Rd, Grayslake IL 60030
Opening Saturday, March 26th, from 6PM - 9PM
On view through Sunday, May 15th
Janette Hill is an illustrator, graphis designer, and mixed media fine artist from Great Britain living and working in Kenosha WI who has always loved “putting marks on” any substrate.
“I love color and organic repeated patterns that go on an adventure across the paper or canvas. I love layers—hiding tiny details that draw the viewer in. I enjoy the process and the discovery that there is always part of a piece that I dislike or feel like I messed up, but actually in the end, when you look at the bigger picture (literally), it all comes together and becomes something beautiful. And, in that way, my work has taught me to view myself and my life differently. I suppose in the end that is its purpose.”
Janette’s preferred mediums include watercolor, micron & acrylic pens and markers, and graphite. Janette is self-taught with a style that has evolved over the years. From children’s book illustration to photo realistic pet portraits to abstract work, it all represents Janette’s unique visual expression and each style influences the other.
