Pants Without Legs
@ The Martin
2500 W Chicago Ave, Chicago, IL 60622
Opening Friday, October 15th, from 6:30PM - 9:30PM
On view through Saturday, October 23rd
Pants Without Legs is a ceramic performance that focuses on the resonance of fired clay.
Five pairs of ceramic pants extend themselves into the space, vertical vessels awaiting bodily interaction. In climbing up and into the pants, Melon will demonstrate the functionality of such pants through sonic communication. By using distortion and feedback frequencies to activate the ceramic pants, Melon will engage post-linguistically as they post-pass, what Melon considers to be the element of social interaction that trans*cends passing as a trans* person in private-public space.
Through sonically activating such ceramic forms, Melon hopes to create a cyclical reclamation of the body-vessel in space and viewership.
