On the occasion of the publication of his book Street Portraits, Dawoud Bey will join writer, musician, and producer Gregory Tate in conversation followed by a book signing. Tate, who wrote the bookâs corresponding essay, will present a glimpse into his thoughts on Beyâs 1988-1991 series, which focused on portraits of African Americans in various American cities through the lens of a large format tripod-mounted camera. Bey and Tate will also discuss Beyâs larger practice and coinciding solo exhibition at Stephen Daiter Gallery. Free of charge, masks and proof of vaccination required for entry.
