Mermaid Vibes/Rusalnaya
@ Humboldt Park Pond
1200 N. Humboldt Blvd, Chicago, IL 60622
Opening Sunday, September 19th, from 8PM - 9PM
On view through Sunday, September 19th
As the harvest moon bathes in the dark ponds of Humboldt Park, desperate mermaids come out to sing their Equinox swan song. Come prepared. Dress warmly, wax your ears and tie yourself to the mast. Please be forewarned that singing, making eye contact, splashing, kissing, and tickling people to death is strictly prohibited, but slavic mermaids do it anyway! Proceed with utmost caution!
Dani Chё and Galina Shevchenko present a unique community event, an omnimedia outdoor performance Mermaid Vibes or Rusalnaya. Rusalnaya fuses together elements of cheesy pop concerts, drag, slavic folklore and video art. While the musicians surround the pond, the rusalka-performer sings songs of love from the bottom of the Humboldt park pond. Featuring Sam Hyson, Lucia Thomas, Suvik Zvodinsky and open choir.
At Humboldt Park West side river/ pond by the central bridge
