Movement building is slow work. As we slide into colder months, let’s take a breath and examine closely our goals for the future, for abolition, for collective liberation. Join Mycall Akeem Riley and Reunion Chicago on Saturday 12/19 from 1-3 pm CST for the next READS book club, where we discuss adrienne maree brown’s new chapbook We Will Not Cancel Us.
brown’s words provide needed introspection and guidance on how to channel righteous anger and hurt and still strive for a world in which no one is disposable. We Will Not Cancel Us asks us to reconcile our best and worst parts.
This chapbook is a call-to-action, not a call out. Dig deep with us as we excavate new ways to support ourselves and each other. How do we define accountability? What are the distinctions between harm and abuse? What more must we learn?
RSVP! First 30 attendees to demonstrate need will receive a FREE copy, priority given to Chicago residents and members of the BIPOC and queer and trans community.
