Indira Johnson: Peace Offering
@ Dammrich Rowing Center
3220 Oakton Street, Skokie, IL 60076
Opening Sunday, October 4th, from 10am - 1PM
Participate in a traditional practice where leaves and flowers are sent out into the rivers and seas as offerings of hope, restoration, and prayers for peace.
You can submit written messages of peace by emailing 2020kindnessinaction@gmail.com, visiting the YKNA website www.kindnessinactionevanston.com, or by posting on Instagram @kindnessinactionevanston. We will write your offering onto a leaf and include it in the project for you.
On Sunday, October 4th, the leaves will be joined together in different patterns and then launched into the Northshore Channel. Join us at the Dammrich Rowing Center at 10am for the launch. Together, we will watch the offering float south to the Des Plaines River and onwards. Event will take place from 10am-1pm.
The 2020 Year of Kindness and Nonviolent Action (YKNA) is a Public Art and Community Engagement initiative that uses the transformative power of the arts to unite Evanstonians around a common goal—creating a more inclusive, peaceful and kind community.
