Demilitarized U. Study Group at PO Box
@ PO Box Collective
6900 N Glenwood Ave, Chicago, IL 60626
Opening Tuesday, September 1st, at 7PM
DEMILITARIZED U. is an ongoing research project to develop an institutional analysis of militarism, imagine a demilitarized world, investigate what strategies and tactics are needed to demilitarize, and support movements working towards a demilitarized future.
The DEMILITARIZED U. study group at PO Box is a bi-weekly virtual gathering that will include guest talks, discussions, readings, creative exercises, and collective research.
The study group’s first series of meetings will focus on researching U.S. militarism’s international and domestic impact while bringing special attention to supporting and cultivating local Chicago campaigns for demilitarization, while exploring the links between abolition and demilitarization. Throughout the series of meetings the group will produce creative resources (writings, illustrations, etc) for emerging readers, tool kits, and creative actions for demilitarization.
Activists, artists, students, teachers, researchers, and community members from all backgrounds are encouraged to join the group.
