Artbash is the annual year-end exhibition and event of the work by students completing their first year at SAIC in the Department of Contemporary Practices. This year, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Artbash 2020 has migrated to the internet: Artbash.party.
Within days of learning that the school was moving to remote learning, CP students, faculty and staff did what CP does best: respond creatively to the world. With the support of CP faculty, students immediately began re-designing, re-making and re-thinking their work for this year’s exhibition, which reshapes all of our usual Artbash programming in a way to include installations, performance, film and video, book arts, and 48.24.12: a team film competition.
Special thanks to our faculty who worked tirelessly with our amazing students to transform their work from the physical to the digital: Artbash Coordinator, Sarah Belknap; website creator and digital advisor, Nick Briz; digital instruction and support Tom Burtonwood; and event leads Joseph Belknap, Christine Shallenberg, Hương Ngo and Kitty Huffman.
