Please join us on Saturday, April 18th at 3pm for the first in our series of virtual artist talks featuring Chicago artist Vivian Le discussing her recent body of work ‘Participation Is Part of Your Grade’.
Described by the artist as “kawaii (cute) macabre”, many of Le’s characters are either young children or dolls embodying the shape of young children. The artist explains that using dolls has allowed for the potential to explore the influence of the adult gaze with more depth while simultaneously “subverting the convention of the artist and their muse”. Equally charming and challenging, Le’s compelling images invite deeper consideration both visually and conceptually.
