Jennifer Reeder: Knives and Skin
@ Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago
220 E Chicago Ave, Chicago, IL 60611
Opening Friday, October 18th, from 9PM - 11P
On view through Friday, October 18th
In this moody and lush teen noir, the disappearance of a high school student points to dark forces at work in a sleepy Illinois town. Although friends, neighbors, and family search for Carolyn Harper, the case remains unsolved. Unmoored and adrift, the rural community—from the mother of the missing girl to her fellow choir members—tries to soldier on. Surreal, sly, and shocking, Jennifer Reeder’s coming-of-age tale has a fiercely feminist heart.
The 55th Chicago International Film Festival pairs with the MCA to showcase the best of what contemporary cinema has to offer with two premiere film screenings in the Edlis Neeson Theater. Join the hosts and artists after the show for a reception in the theater.
“Knives and Skin” (2019) runs for 1 hour, 51 minutes.
