Open Spaces: an art dinner for aliens

@ The Martin

2515 W North Ave, Chicago, IL 60647

Opening Friday, August 30th, from 7PM - 10PM

On view through Friday, August 30th

Interdisciplinary artist Emory Hall joins The Martin founders Whitney LaMora and Lora Miller to create an immersive dinner, drink, and art experience under the title OPEN SPACES.

Drawing from influences over the past year, these dishes and the conceptual setting form an experience centered on the fear of togetherness. Of keeping little spaces open for aliens to reach you. Of letting go of things that no longer serve you and not having the new things filled in yet. Of not knowing.

Beginning with the tightly packed and closed off sardine, moving through the protected oyster and then opening up with the more communal dishes – injera and shared noodles, the dishes progress from individual size and scope to larger and more expansive as a journey to belong, become apart of.

Your individual experience begins at the door to The Martin and lasts throughout the evening. This isn’t just a dinner – it’s an evening of finding yourself alone and then amongst others in one room with a shared meal.

The working menu is below – should you have dietary needs / allergies beyond this, please contact us to see if we are able to accommodate! Drinks provided by KOVAL.
