Summer Tuesdays come alive on the MCA’s Anne and John Kern Terrace Garden with free music highlighting artists from Chicago’s internationally renowned jazz community. Cornetist Ben LaMar Gay brings his genre-defying sounds to the Terrace for two sets.
Ben LaMar Gay is a composer and cornetist who moves components of sound, color, and space through folkloric filters to produce brilliant electro‐acoustic collages. The layering and mingling of various styles feeds and plays with a larger musical narrative. The Chicago native’s true technique is giving life to an idea while exploring and expanding on the term “Americana.”
